Does my home insurance cover ALL solar hardware?

Some insurers offer insurance as part of your general building insurance. This may include heating systems, solar PV systems, inverters, batteries and fixed generators connected to the building’s wiring. Their optional benefit looks to cover your solar geyser, solar panels or wind turbines located outside or on the roof of the building.

Are there really financial benefits of a Solar installation?

When you install a solar energy system on your property, you save money on your electricity bills. You protect yourself against rising electricity rates in the future. You will no longer experience load shedding and expense of running a generator. This is true for your business and going solar is a smart investment regardless of where you live.

How much solar energy do I need?

When most people think of adding solar power to their home, they think big. They think a sea of solar panels covering the roof, soaking up enough sun to power the whole house day after day.

They think full replacement of grid power on a daily basis, a greener home, and a smaller carbon footprint. And they think thousands of dollars up front.

But there’s another way to think: small.

Like dipping your toe into a pool, you can start with a small solar system. For some, that means solar for a portion of their home. For others, it’s a first step in building up a full system, using smaller increments over a long period of time. You can always ad onto the system as you go.

Do I have to clean my solar panels?

While dust and dirt settling on your panels is unavoidable, thankfully, so is rain. Even just a mild and short rain shower will do a sufficient job of cleaning the grime off your panels! You’ll have them performing again at their full potential with no effort or money spent.

While normal airborne particles such as pollen, dirt, and dust will wash off in the rain with ease, there are some items that won’t. ..Like bird droppings. Keep an eye on your panels before and after it rains to see if they’re coming clean. If some stubborn dirt is still hanging around, it may be worth looking into having them cleaned.

I have tree shade in my yard, what are my options?

Thanks to modern solar installation technology, solar panels can still be efficient when they’re in sub-optimal conditions. A modern solar panel may produce more energy from 4 hours of direct sunlight than an old solar panel would produce from 12.

Can hail damage my solar panels?

Solar panels are extremely durable, lasting an average of nearly three decades. Manufacturers rigorously test them to withstand extreme weather. From high winds, heavy snow, and even hail. And because solar panel systems usually don’t have moving parts, they don’t need routine maintenance.
